youtube sunday

Last night marked the return of SNL, and even though I can’t pull it in on the old rabbit ears until 12, I stayed up to see what kind of laughs there would be coming out of the writer’s strike. Not surprisingly, politics were a big source material, and one of the highlights of the show was this Weekend Update bit featuring the mathematically eliminated from Republican nominee contention Mike Huckabee.

The Oscars are on tonight. Regrettably, I have only peeped two of the Best Picture nominees, and while I hope Juno can pull it off, I think I will be wanting to go and see No Country For Old Men ASAP. I am very much looking forward to seeing Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova perform the nominated song Falling Slowly. Not only is it a phenomenal tune, it is quite possible one of my favorite scenes from a movie. Ever. And if you haven’t seen it, here it is. [edit: I have substituted the movie scene with the performance from the Oscar show. And they won, which was the highlight of the show in my books].
