travel disaster averted

Last night was straight up bananas.

I get home from work to find an email from my soon-to-be landlady with a link to this BBC article breaking the news about the demise of Zoom Air. This is relevant news to us because we were meant to be flying to Glasgow via Zoom next Friday night. A few expletives later, I gathered myself and tried to process how to spin this. I immediately got on the horn in regards to a refund for our now useless place tickets [check]. While waiting on hold behind a host of other disgruntled customers, I was madly clicking away trying to score alternate travel plans. Within two hours, we had new flights booked [Toronto to Dublin departing 11:50 pm on Thursday night, Dublin to Edinburgh the following afternoon] and a major crisis was averted. I shut down the computer, plopped down in bed, let out a huge ‘phewf’ and said ‘as if that just happened’. Wow.

Now the biggest entree on our plates is selling the car. If you’re prone to pray for others, please remember that over the next few days.

Six days? Woah.
