week seven?

Good morning, from windy Aberdeen. It is gusting out there this morning.

A quiet weekend it was for Lauren and I. The thing with working with kids is that they are crazy germy, and Lauren has picked up a wicked cold that hit her pretty hard over the past couple of days. So, we decided to take it easy and relax. And what is more relaxing than going to watch an incredible action movie, right? Yes, one of the perks of living in the UK is that they released Quantum of Solace a few weeks earlier than back home. Did you know that James Bond is technically Scottish, by the way? Well, half-Scottish I guess – his father was Scottish and his mother was Swiss. True story. Look it up. For the sake of my North American friends, I won’t give anything away about the movie, although I will say that it was not quite to Casino Royale what The Dark Knight was to Batman Begins. Don’t get me wrong, it was great – the action sequences were stunning, and the storyline was interesting enough. But in some ways it seemed to revert to the tired Bond formula of old, and lacked the edge that Royale offered. That being said, it is for sure worth a look at the cinema for the action sequences alone.

As I said, not too much else going on other than some straight resting. I recently bought Bonhoeffer’s Discipleship and have been reading that very closely. Amazing stuff. I am writing my NT Theology paper on discipleship, and am seriously considering taking that route for my dissertation as well. A huge amount of blog post material there, so I will save that for another day.

Another busy week ahead. Lauren is hosting a knitting group here at our flat tomorrow evening and will be attending a Bible study group later in the week as well, both of which should be fun for her. I have two classes today, and just realized that my first major paper is due in three weeks. On Friday, I begin my dissertation preparation class, so I will soon have to settle on a topic, pick a supervisor and write up a proposal and an outline. I can’t believe that today marks the beginning of the seventh week of class. Time is a flyin’.

My teacup is empty, which means I better get going and officially start the day.

Cheers.
